Topic: Radicalization

Committee: UNSC

Germany today is very big on their views for radicalization. Recently Germany has spoken to us, to which he stated, “Germany will do anything to get their point across”. Germany was fully engaged, and ready for any question that was thrown his way. Many of the following questions were answered quickly, and went into quite a few details. It is also noted Nazis that are regaining their ranks, and joining many political fields. Germany looks at radicalization as an importance for the morality of the people. Safety precautions such as checkpoints and blockades have been enforced. He stated that money is not an issue as Germany’s economy as it is the second largest in Europe. To protect the country, Germany recognizes allies such as Australia. This statement comes only a few days after an ISIS member took citizens from a store in Sydney, Australia hostage. To resolve this issue, Germany would like to enforce background searches, and internet sweeps of people. Many people will be put down as a person of interest if their background may send up some red flags.

Country: Cuba

Committee: SPECPOL

Mr. Mendez is representing the country of Cuba. He stated that his country is working in ties with Russia. The country wanted to build a satellite program. This was in order to start space exploration. However, he stated that even though Cuba wanted to help, he noted that the country does not want to be a puppet. Cuba doesn't want other countries to control them, use them as a basis for warfare. When asked if Cuba was a puppet of Russia, his response was “Cuba is an independent nation and cannot afford to deteriorate its reputation”. He was unable to respond once the Cuban Missile Crisis was brought up. What if Russia uses Cuba just for warfare? He was unable to respond to these sets of questions. When asked for possible resolutions, he said he needed the funding for the space program, as Cuba’s economy was unstable. Cuba is not keeping up with current events. He was unable to explain what happened with the Presidents of Cuba and the USA. NGOs are one of the key things needed for resolutions to solidify affectivity. Mr. Mendez was unable to name even one NGO to support his resolution.

Topic: Preservation of Identity

Committee: Organization of American States

Cuba today is having problems preserving a lot of the cultural as well as important imports and export artifacts used for markets. Throughout the interview Cuba was controversial and shutting down what she was saying. First they were big on preserving artifacts, then the people come before the artifacts. Which one would Cuba say is a priority? Cuba seeks to help with her fellow Latin American countries such as Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela; because she feels that they all see eye to eye on certain topics so they have similar goals. To help fund for emergency preservation of artifacts, Cuba seeks to bring in foreign students from USA in order to study archaeology. How are Cubans able to gain money if they’re handing out scholarships for students to study for free? Where is the profit going to be made from? At the moment, Cuban sees no countries that pose a threat to the Cuban current plan. Cuba looks towards there OAS Brethren to gain funds for exports/important of the preservation of artifacts. The US could be of use for the Cuba because they can bring their own cultures to help contribute to the heritage. When asked about NGOs that can help support Cuba, with a confident answer, the Hemingway Foundation. This NGO helps to preserve an artifact which currently resides in the US which is Cuban. There are a lot more NGOs which are believed to help with the Afro-Cuban culture.
