Thomas A. Edison CTE High School's Model UN

Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, or other multilateral bodies, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy and negotiation. In Model UN, students assume the roles of ambassadors of United Nations member states  to dispute current, international  issues on the UN's immense agenda. Model UN is more than a government and economic class; it offers a humanitarian approach that hopes to improve the world. The students are known as "delegates"; delegates use the UN's rules of procedure in the interest of "international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect almost every country by resolving conflicts through draft resolutions and negotiating with supporters and adversaries. Thousands of middle school, high school, and college students across the country and around the world participate in Model UN. Model UN is a unique experience offering real world opportunities in collegiate and professional skills; involving extensive researching and developing writing, public speaking, and debating skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills
